Hunnie Cake (Lambanhngon.com) - Dạy làm bánh - Đặt bánh cưới, sinh nhật

This is the final tutorial for the farm cake – the shed, the horse and cow.

To make the shed, I began by making a template from thin cardboard

You only need the two pieces for a square shed. Add some tylo powder into your red fondant (or just use gumpaste), roll out finely and cut out your pieces.

Using the back of a knife and a ruler, mark out lines for the wood pieces

Make horizontal lines for the end of the wood, and make small holes for the nails. Using a modelling tool, make some grooves on the wood to add texture.

Roll out some white fondant and use a wood impression mat (I bought mind from a clay modelling shop… much cheaper than from a cake decorating shop!). Cut out strips for the shed door.

Attach to the shed door with some water and cut out a black rectangle for the top (where the horse head will be)

Make a small toothpick hole in the black square for the horse head to be attached later on…. make sure the hold only goes halfway in the fondant.

Leave to dry until hard (probably up to 48 hours, but at least 24 hours)

I always dry my fondant out on baking paper so that it is easy to remove.

Once dry, assemble the shed. I used containers either side to hold the sides in place.

Roll out some brown fondant (that has been mixed with tylo powder), use a wood impression mat and cut out your roof pieces (which are basically two rectangles). Leave to dry overnight.

Attach to the top of the shed

Unfortunately I’ve misplaced the photos of the horse!! But I basically rolled out a chocolate brown oval. Marked two black eyes using an edible marker and made the ears using the same method as the pig. For the hair, I used some darker brown fondant and put it through my sugar shaper to get my strands of spagetti (you could use a garlic press for this) and then glued them onto my horse head. The last thing I did was to attach half a toothpick to the back of the head before leaving it to dry overnight.

For the cow, I started by cutting by hand the cow’s  body and attaching just above the fence

I then made the ears (same method as for the horse) and stuck a pink and white ball together for the cow’s face and indented the nostrils.

To make the legs, I rolled out some white fondant and black fondant into thick strips, cut them out and stuck them together.

Once the body, head and legs were stuck to the cake, it was easier to add
